The Isle of Arran is one of Scotland’s most southerly and accessible islands. Only a 55 minute ferry crossing from Ardrossan in Ayrshire, Arran is approximately a 2 hour journey from Glasgow Airport, including the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry sail, and only 12 miles from Prestwick Airport to the ferry terminal at Ardrossan.
From here, a day spent in Glasgow or Arran is easy to arrange and you can still be back on the last boat, infact some of our residents now commute daily.
The scenery is outstanding with rugged granite mountain peaks in the north, the green rolling hills of the south, beautiful villages and dramatic, ever changing coastal views around every corner. The island is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts with outstanding wildlife, geology and history.
Music and the arts are celebrated widely, with regular and annual events. Similarly, the island offers a wide range of sporting activities including golf, shooting, watersports. Arran is a culture of contrasts: tranquil landscapes and energetic activities, entertainment, luxury and relaxation.
The official tourist body for the island is Visit Arran. Visit them online by clicking on their logo.
